Pervis Estupinan says he fears his Ecuador sidekick might leave Albion this summer.
But he would love Moises Caicedo to be part of the Europa League mission with the Seagulls.
Caicedo is already subject of various reports of interest in his services from Chelsea and Arsenal.
Albion refused to sell when Arsenal offered £70 million for his services late in January.
But they are realistic he could depart in the coming weeks to follow Alexis Mac Allister’s move to Liverpool.
Caicedo signed a new deal in February and would command a huge fee.
Estupinan was quizzed about his compatriot’s future when he visited his old club Liga de Quito.
The left-back said: “Having a player of Moi’s characteristics, we all fear that he will leave.
“If he stays, I will be very happy to keep playing alongside him and enjoying his football.
“If he goes, I will wish him all the best because he is a good lad, a good professional and he is a machine.
“If he leaves, we will be opponents and all I’ll ask is he doesn’t give me a whack because he is very strong!”
Estupinan expressed a desire to play again for LDU before ending his playing days but said: “That is still a long way off.
“I’d like to come back to Liga de Quito. It was and still is my home.”
