Albion are heading for Europe and it might take time to sink in.
We asked these four long-time fans, and regular contributors to The Argus, for their thoughts on the 3-1 win over Southampton which got them there.
And then we asked what this historic step up means to them.
See what you think of their replies.
1. What were your thoughts on Albion’s performance against Southampton?
Colin Beales: A patchy game that was well under control and maybe some took their foot off the gas for a bit that could have proved costly without VAR for their equaliser. From that point the intensity returned to rightfully earn the European dream!
James Heasman: I thought we were understandably a little nervy at times against a poor Southampton, most noticeable in some of our decision-making and finishing. However, we always looked likely to score and when Pascal Gross scored the third there seemed to be audible relief. Overall an effective display, with the deserved result.
Tim Ayling: I think nerves got the better of a couple of the players but, once the third went in, it became a training ground exercise for both teams. We've played better and Southampton threatened to do an Everton in the second half, but the better team won.
Alan Brownings: We did the job we needed to, and we’re grateful in the end for a VAR decision that could have changed the course of the game. It gave us renewed focus and got a third goal to settle the nerves. A well-deserved finish to our greatest ever season.
2. Who stood out in the Albion performance?
Colin Beales: Ferguson took his goals well, Colwill impressed at the back but Macalister was brilliant. I guess we just have to savour these moments.
James Heasman: Caicedo played well, as did Dunk, Mac Allister and Pascal Gross. My man of the match though was Evan Ferguson, what a talent!
Tim Ayling: Mac Allister and Gross stepped up when we needed experienced heads to see the job through. Ferguson will get the headlines for the goals, but those two deserve the plaudits. So fitting for Gross to get the clincher too.
Alan Brownings: Ferguson for two cool and well executed finishes.
3. What will it mean to you to see European football at the Amex?
Colin Beales: From Hereford to here... We saw the club on the absolute brink, did the miles to Gillingham, sat in the rain at Withdean then started our ascent having magical memories along the way. If I'd have dreamt back then that in 2023-24 we will play in Europe in our own stadium in Brighton, folk would have said you were mad. Today that dream became a reality! WE'RE ALL GOING ON A EUROPEAN TOUR!!!
James Heasman: I still feel a little overwhelmed by the whole thing. It is hard to comprehend where we have come from and where we are now. European football is an incredible achievement and De Zerbi has done a fantastic job.
Tim Ayling: I don't think it's hit home yet so this is hard to answer. The scenes at the Amex yesterday were a lot more emotional than I thought they would be. My passport is ready for action though.
Alan Brownings: I started to watch the Albion with my dad as a 12-year-old in 1984, and have been a season ticket holder at the Goldstone, Withdean and Amex. It’s beyond my wildest dreams.
