Albion are one win from qualifying for Europe for the first time.
They will be assured of at least a Conference League place if they beat relegated Southampton tomorrow.
That would put them out of the reach of Tottenham, who lost 3-1 to Brentford in today’s earlier kick-off.
It would also all but mathematically make sure they finish in the top six and play in the Europa League after Aston Villa were held by Liverpool.
Spurs led at the break through Harry Kane but two goals from Bryan Mbeumo led a Bees comeback.
Aston Villa were on course to move above the Seagulls as they led for a long time at Anfield in a 3pm kick-off.
But Roberto Firmino struck late on to force a 1-1 draw.
Albion are level on points with Villa but have an advantage of 14 in the goal difference column.
The teams meet at Villa Park in the final game but Albion will be all but uncatchable if they have picked up another win before then, be it against the Saints or when Manchester City visit in midweek.
