The country’s only grade two listed coastal lido has opened for the summer season today.
Saltdean Lido’s outdoor heated pool opened at 10am today with people queueing to get in from the moment the cover was rolled back.
The historic pool once faced an uncertain future but was saved by the community and is back in full swing for the beautiful weather this year.
Derek Leaver, chairman of the Saltdean Lido Community Interest Company, said: “It’s lovely down here at the moment, with lots of people already splashing about in the pool under a blue sky in the sunshine.

“People were down here since we opened at 10am so it’s been great and we’re hoping for a good season.”
The date for the pool’s opening was pushed back after a leak was found below the ground.
Derek told The Argus last month: “It’s fortunate the leak was discovered before the pool reopens but obviously it’s extremely disappointing to be forced to delay the new season.”
The pool is open until 6pm today, and 7am to 7pm each day from tomorrow.
