Danny Welbeck wants an FA Cup semi-final to be just the start for Albion.

Roberto De Zerbi’s exciting side take on Manchester United at Wembley tomorrow (4.30pm, BBC1).

The Seagulls will be backed by about 36,000 fans in the latest chapter of a memorable season.

But Welbeck, who could lead the attack against his former club, wants more special days to follow.

He said: "It’s great for the club to be involved in these occasions.

“Hopefully this is just the start and this is something that we can keep building on, keep on improving as a team and as a club, and keep pushing ourselves.

“We’ll see where we can get to."

Albion have impressed on big stages such as Old Trafford, Anfield and Stamford Bridge this season.

But the stages come no bigger than Wembley.

Welbeck said: "There’s always difficult matches coming up in the Premier League and FA Cup.

"It’s important to see it as another football game rather than looking at the occasion.

"It’s really important that we prepare the same way as we do for any other game, because we really do prepare well for every single game — this game’s no different.

"With the lads, obviously it’s a semi-final so there’s an extra incentive of getting to the final.”

De Zerbi was not ruling out Welbeck’s fellow striker Evan Ferguson (ankle) or defender Joel Veltman (hamstring) as he spoke to the media yesterday afternoon.

Both limped out of the win at Stamford Bridge last Saturday.

De Zerbi said yesterday: “The situation of injuries is not clear yet.

“We will see tomorrow morning. We have another two days.

“We have time to understand the situation and to analyse the decision.”
