Albion’s match against bitter rivals Crystal Palace had a delay of nearly ten minutes following a power cut.

Referee Peter Bankes halted the game for around four minutes after the lights at the Amex went out in the 53rd minute.

The lights flickered before completely turning off, leaving the packed out stadium in darkness for a few seconds.

Several lights around the stadium did not return for the rest of the match.

The officials had to ensure the goal line technology was working, as well as the communication systems between the referee, his linesmen and video assistant Andre Marriner.

The Argus understands there was no chance of the game being called off.

Lighting in the stands did not return for around 15 minutes after the power cut.

The big screens returned before the game restarted.

There were difficulties charging laptops in the press box afterwards.

At the end of the game, nine minutes of extra time were added on. This included the stoppage of around four minutes due to the power cut.
