Roberto De Zerbi was delighted to see his Albion side win “in a different way” as they beat Crystal Palace.
But he was not overly impressed with their performance in a 1-0 win.
The Italian added: “I’m really pleased for the players, for the result, for the fans and for the table, everything, but it was a very difficult game.
“We didn’t play the best game in our season.
“But it can happen. We can’t play every game like (the did against) West Ham, Fulham, Palace away but I thought we deserved to win.
“When you don’t close the game then you have to suffer until the end.
“But it’s like this, football. We are Brighton, not Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United or Liverpool. It’s important for us to win in a different way to our style.”
