He was satisfied with his efforts – and even more pleased to share in a win.
Buonanotte revealed the simple instructions given to him by Roberto De Zerbi as he prepared to enter the action.
The 18-year-old snapped up from Rosario Central told The Argus: “He told me to play as a double playmaker, with Jeremy (Sarmiento), and to enjoy myself.
“That was the important thing – to just think about playing and enjoying it.
“It was a bit different I think (to Argentina), more intense.
"But it was a beautiful game and the fans are very special - very similar to Rosario. It’s a great stage to play on.
“I’m really happy for the club, for team, and secondly to make my debut here in Brighton and the Premier League. I hope to help the team in the best way.”
Buonanotte’s debut came just two weeks after he was stretchered off in Colombia having taken a heavy fall in the South American Under-20 Championship.
He admitted to disappointment at having to leave the tournament, where he was set to a key player for his country.
But he has set sights on following his compatriot Alexis Mac Allister in impressing for the Seagulls.
He said: “Alexis and all the South American boys have been helping me.
“They have treated me very well.
“Brighton has a really nice group here and that’s important.
“The group (of players) is the fundamental factor to having a good season.”
Buonanotte previously played alongside Mac Allister's brother Francis last season and they watched Albion games together.
The club were given Francis's seal of approval.
Buonanotte said: "He just told me it was a really good club to make this big step to Europe.
"He told me they would help me a lot and they would treat me in the best way."
Buonanotte is aware Alexis spoke little to no English when he first signed for the club.
It us hard to think of a player among Albion's many overseas signings in the past decade or so who has made as great progress with the language as the World Cup winner.
That is a decent example for Buonanotte to follow.
Asked his targets for the rest of the seaosn, he said: "I think my first aim just has to be settle in the club, learn the language.
"That’s the short term goal I have and after that we will see."
Does he speak any English?
"No, very little. Alexis when he came here understood very little and now he speaks as well as anyone."
