Albion hope to give a positive update on Evan Ferguson.
But referees bosses have admitted the Liverpool player who fouled him should have been sent off.
Ferguson clutched his knee after being felled from behind by a lunge from Fabinho.
The Brazilian was shown only a yellow card by referee David Coote, who had Neil Swarbrick on VAR duty.
Ferguson was helped off and later left the stadium on crutches.
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi will give an update on Ferguson on Friday.
However, The Argus have been told Albion are hopeful the injury is not as bad as first feared.
The PGMOL, which is the referees’ body, say there was enough evidence to warrant a red card.
The challenge was deemed to be of relatively low intensity but there was a full point of contact from the studs above the ankle from behind.
That should have led to Coote being directed to the screen and advised to show red.
