Albion fans were out in force on Saturday.

They gave great backing from the corner section at the King Power Stadium as their side drew 2-2 with Leicester City.

Evan Ferguson offered a moment to savour with his late equaliser.

But Kaoru Mitoma’s opening goal will also live long in the memory.

We asked three long-time supporters who travelled for their views on the match.

Then we asked what they made of the controversial incident in which Albion felt Danny Welbeck was fouled in the Leicester penalty area.

How did it look from their angle - and what was it like awaiting any VAR developments.?

1. What were your thoughts on Albion’s performance at Leicester?

Colin Beales: Whilst large periods of the game we were the better side, the number of chances created wasn’t up to the level of recent performances. In defence throughout we looked a little out of sorts with the enforced change of personnel. That said the desire in the team got us a great late equaliser and maybe on another day we could have got more if VAR did its job.

James Heasman: Although I didn’t think we were at our best, we were comfortably better than Leicester. The goals we conceded were more a result of a lack of concentration, rather than being carved open by good play. It was interesting that Leicester seemed to prefer to play with numbers behind the ball, instead of closing us down, which I guess is something we’ll need to overcome.

Tim Ayling: We’ve played better but probably deserved three points. Leicester set up as the away team, which I think will become more common. Brighton are great to watch though. We go all out to score goals and play some wonderful football. This was no different.

2. Who was your pick of the Albion players?

Colin Beales: I’d say my pick would be Mitoma across the game. Some decent runs, commitment and an absolute world class goal!

James Heasman: Estupinan had another very good game, as did Caicedo, but Kaoru Mitoma was fantastic and looked dangerous every time he got the ball. Great goal as well!

Tim Ayling: Caicedo was a beast in midfield. He gets better every game. Mitoma was magical again, but Dunk stood out for me. He really helped Van Hecke through his first Premier League start and was unlucky to see us concede two.

3. Your thoughts on the penalty incident – and how you saw it at the time?

Colin Beales: I thought there could have been contact but often from these things the players reaction tells you a lot as well. If VAR isn’t going to step in for these mistakes why have it?

James Heasman: Right in front of us and called it immediately, it simply is not good enough that these mistakes continue. There is an irony that the very thing that was supposed to eliminate errors and controversies, actually creates more. Until we have competent officials in charge of the technology VAR it will never work. Time to remove it as it is adding limited value.

Tim Ayling: It was right in front of us, and was an absolute stonewall penalty. Even Gary Lineker said it was! I just don’t see the point of VAR if that’s not over-turned. They took five minutes to give Leicester’s goal (if it’s not obvious in give seconds, give the goal!), and didn’t bother looking at our penalty. Ludicrous.
