Roberto De Zerbi says Albion play better with Adam Lallana as he awaits news on his injured midfielder.
But he was also pleased with their efforts after he went off at Leicester.
The head coach could shed little light on the injury as he spoke after the match.
He told reporters: “I think it is a muscular injury."
Lallana could be seen feeling his right thigh as Albion scored their opening goal in the 2-2 draw.
He went down before play resumed.
They would like to him back in time to face his old club Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday.
But the need is more pressing for the following Saturday’s league game at home to Bournemouth.
Alexis Mac Allister will miss the Cherries’ visit to the Amex through suspension after a yellow card seconds from the end of the King Power clash.
De Zerbi said: "Normally we play better with Lallana on the pitch for sure.
“But I think in the second half we maybe played better.
“We were stronger in the last part of the pitch when we were attacking. We were stronger but Lallana is a very, very important player.”
