Roberto De Zerbi said he is ready to speak to Leandro Trossard about his Albion future.
The Seagulls' head coach declined to comment on a statement from the player’s agent Josy Comhair as he answered questions after the 3-0 win over Liverpool.
De Zerbi described Trossard as “a good guy” and said he wanted to keep discussions within “our family” in the dressing room.
Trossard was absent as the Seagulls turned on the style at the Amex.
Comhair's statement appeared to be pushing towards a move for his player and indicated that De Zerbi had indeed suggested as much.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, De Zerbi said: "I want to be clear about Trossard.
“In this moment I am sorry for this situation. I think I didn’t make a mistake with him.
"The people who work inside of Brighton know very well the situation and I am fine with myself.
"I am open to wait for him.
“I am ready to open the door for him because he is a good guy and he is a very good player for us, very important player .
“I don’t him to change team but he has to understand that he has to work with my attitude, in my way because I am coach and I decide the rules inside the dressing room. Only this.
“I have a responsibility for my players and for my club. I am honest. I am very clear.
"When I want to say something I speak inside the family and our family is the dressing room.”
“I don’t want to speak about the communication of his agent because I don't know him.
“I know only Leo and I’m ready to listen to him without a problem because this situation is very important.
"It's not a bad situation, it's a great situation because if we learn, if we improve what will be our way, we can only impove.
"To achieve the important result, to achieve our dream, we have only one way - to be open to improve, to be resdy to work hard.
"Because we are Brighton. We are a team of middle level of this competition and so we have to work and think for the team before ourselves."
He added: “Have I made it clear (about) Leo?
“Because I would like to speak about the game.”
