Leandro Trossard believes Albion caught their old boss by surprise at the Amex.

But he will happily take a central role if the chance arises again.

Trossard opened the scoring as the Seagulls humbled Chelsea 4-1 on Graham Potter’s return.

He led the attack with Danny Welbeck unwell.

Meanwhile Pascal Gross started on the right side of defence as a calf issue ruled out Joel Veltman.

Trossard said: “I like to be central. Obviously I’m closer to the goal so it’s easier to get chances and maybe score a goal.

“But I don’t really mind where the gaffer wants me to play. I have played all over the place.

“Where he wants me, I will do my 100%.”

Potter, who was taunted mercilessly by home fans, was left with little answer as Albion swamped his side and led 3-0 at the break.

Trossard has now netted five times in six games under Roberto De Zerbi – and seven this season. He added: “With Welbs not playing and me as more of a centre forward, it maybe caught him (Potter) by surprise.

“And Pasc playing out of position.

“You could see in the first half how we want to play under the new manager.

“Suck the pressure out and then play through the lines and we scored some good goals.”
