Albion are back on the road tonight as they take on Brentford in the Premier League.

Joe Grant looks at what they can expect to find at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Team News

Brentford are without two key players for the visit of Albion with Christian Norgaard ruled out with an Achilles injury and Pontus Jansson missing with a thigh injury - but Keane Lewis-Potter is back from an ankle injury.

Current form

Brentford currently sit 11th with ten points from their first nine games. The Bees had a disappointing performance last time out against Newcastle, losing 5-1 with some poor defending costing them. The hosts are stronger at home than away, having beat Manchester United by four goals to nil and Leeds five goals to two at the Gtech Community Stadium so far this season.

Thomas Frank’s side can move within one point of Brighton with a win and potentially into the top ten if other results go their way.

Key Players

Ivan Toney is the main man for Brentford, and he is having a fine season which saw him recently get his first England call up. Toney has six goals and two assists this season, including a brilliant hat-trick against Leeds United. The Brentford forward is the joint second highest scoring Englishman after Harry Kane and has a good chance of securing a World Cup spot.

Bryan Mbuemo is also a danger for Brighton with the pace and power he provides playing either on the wing or just off the striker. Mbuemo has not been as profilic as Toney, but he strikes fear into defenders with his roar pace and power.

David Raya is a consistent figure between the sticks for Frank’s side and has caught the eye of other clubs with his performances since Brentford were promoted in the 2020/21 season.

Weaknesses

The hosts have leaked quite a few goals this season, picking up only two clean sheets this season. The Bees are also without captain and key defender Pontus Jannson which makes them even weaker in that area which the Seagulls can look to exploit.

Brentford are reliant on Toney to play well for them to win and score goals. Therefore, if the England striker has a poor game, then the hosts generally struggle to win games.
