Sussex coach Mark Robinson wants some of his lesser lights to share the load today in the absence of Matt Prior and Luke Wright.
Both men are on England Lions' duty against New Zealand and miss Sussex's floodlit Friends Provident Trophy tie against Surrey Lions at Hove today (2.40pm).
Andrew Hodd will replace Prior behind the stumps while Rory Hamilton-Brown could make his debut against his former county after making a miraculous recovery from a knee injury which left him on crutches at the weekend.
Robinson said: "My challenge to the guys is can you step up in a game like this and so something special?' "We can't keep relying on the likes of (Chris) Adams and (Murray) Goodwin.
"We need different players to win us a game and properly influence what goes on."
Although he has been named in the squad, Corey Collymore is unlikely to make his debut.
The West Indian fast bowler is still waiting to hear that the ECB have ratified his Kolpak registration but Robinson believes the game has come too early for Collymore.
He said: "Corey only arrived late on Tuesday, spent yesterday in London and hasn't done any training yet, we haven't had a chance to see how he is yet."
