Andrea Maldera will be part of Robert De Zerbi’s back-up team at Albion - with more to follow.
There will also a role for Andrew Crofts as a link between seniors and under-21s.
Maldera, 51, previously worked with the Ukraine national team.
Chief executive Paul Barber told a press conference today Maldera and De Zerbi have their Governing Body Endorsements and must now wait for the formal work permit to arrive "which hopefully won't be too far away".
He added: “We also have a small group of Roberto’s former staff who we are going through the process with.”
Nick Stanley (set-pieces), Jack Stern (assistant goalkeeping coach) and Adam Brett (head of medical) will also be involved.
