Worthing have secured their first home win since being promoted.
But boss Adam Hinshelwood believes fans did not have too much to complain about as they waited.
The Mackerel Men came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at home to Cheshunt in Vanarama National League south.
All the goals came in a spectacular first half after ex-Worthing man Dayshon Golding had shocked the home side on four minutes.
Worthing have won all four away games and had drawn all three at home until Tuesday’s drama.
Hinshelwood was delighted to pick up that three-point haul.
But he said: “I think we have had some good performances here.
“Against Dover, we played really well but drew 1-1 and missed a penalty.
“If we hadn’t had the performances, it would be a bit more of a drastic thing today.
“But I’m delighted now we’ve got it and I think it should settle us down now a bit at home.”
Mo Janneh dragged Worthing back into the contest with a glancing header shortly after Cheshunt had gone two up.
Jammeh also crashed home the winner from a well-worked short corner which caught Cheshunt out.
The equaliser was thumped in from close range by Sammie McLeod, who shone in midfield.
Worthing played some exhilarating pass-and-move stuff in that period between the second Cheshunt goal and half-time, with Joel Colbran a great outlet down the right.
They were less incisive in the second half but still should have added to their tally.
As it turned out, the livewire Jammeh was a fitting matchwinner in front of a pleasing midweek turnout of 883.
Hinshelwood said: “He has been with us for about three years now. He was in our youth team and our education programme.
“The good thong is we still believe in what we are doing.
“We have given Joe Rye an opportunity at 18.
“We believe in giving youngsters a chance and we have got a good youth set-up, some good young players.
“If they see a pathway there, then it gives them a bit of inspiration.
“To have Mo and Joe out there today shows we are sticking to our beliefs on that.”
Eastbourne Borough boss Danny Bloor was pleased with much of his side’s performance as they lost 1-0 at home to Welling.
Bloor said: “We played some good football, in the second half particularly. We had opportunities.”
