Andrew Whing has played down the goal saving clearance which helped Albion to another precious away point.

The former Coventry right back celebrated his return from suspension with a spectacular clearance off the line from Dougie Freedman's early shot.

It was the closest Leeds came to breaking through the Seagulls' solid defences at Elland Road.

Whing said: "I just seem to have the knack of being in the right place at the right time in those sort of situations.

"For some reason I always like to go back on the line if I am not marking anyone. Fortunately enough it came straight to me and I was able to clear it.

"It came in the air so I had to scissor kick it away with my left foot. I was very fortunate to get back on the line at the right time."

Albion have now battled to goalless draws at Leeds and Nottingham Forest in successive matches.

Whing said "We defended fantastically well, as we did on Monday (at Forest). We limited Leeds to three shots on target the whole game which shows how well we defended, especially in the first half when we were under the cosh a little bit. We grew in stature in the second half and might have nicked it."

Boss Dean Wilkins was unhappy about several offside verdicts which went against his team.

Wilkins said: "We had three decisions in the game where our players were clean through and clearly on-side and we were pulled up on every single one.

"If you go through one-on-one you have got the possibility of a goal, of the keeper bringing you down or the last defender bringing you down and being sent off.

"We did not have the chance to experience any of those because of the linesman not being in line and not giving the right decision."

Albion are seventh, one place and two points outside the play-offs with a game in hand on Tranmere Rovers.
