Albion fear the versatile Adam El-Abd will not be available again this season, unless they reach the play-offs.
The results of a scan have confirmed El-Abd will be out for four to six weeks after sustaining medial knee ligament damage at Huddersfield on Tuesday.
The Seagulls' last League One game of the season, at home to Swansea, is just over six weeks away on May 3.
How much will Albion miss Adam El-Abd?
