Crawley striker Magno Vieira is hoping to earn a contract with tomorrow's (Tues) opponents.

Vieira is on loan until the end of the season at Cambridge United and will be watching as they take on Reds at Broadfield Stadium.

The Brazilian, who is unable to play due to the terms of his temporary deal, made his full debut for the high-flying U's in Saturday's 1-0 win over Woking.

He was allowed to leave Crawley two weeks ago after struggling to hold down a starting place.

The 23-year-old started just 18 games and scored 12 goals, including two consecutive hat-tricks, following a summer move from Barnet.

Reds boss Steve Evans has not ruled out keeping Vieira next season but the frontman sees his future elsewhere.

He said: "I want to score goals at Cambridge and, hopefully, I can secure myself another contract. I'm looking forward to playing for a team that has such good support, like Cambridge."

Reds turned down an approach from Cambridge for Vieira earlier this season but opted to let the former Wigan striker go after going out of the FA Trophy and Setanta Shield.

Vieira said: "I found out Cambridge were interested in me but Crawley would not allow me to go at the time because we were in the cups and everything, which I can understand.

"But I couldn't turn United down again. The chance to be involved in the play-offs and get promotion back into the league is a big plus."

Cambridge have aiming to close the ten-point gap on leaders Aldershot following a run of one defeat in eight games. Reds lost 2-0 at Northwich on Saturday, their first loss in four games.
