Pervis Estupinan has been backed as a potential good fit for the Premier League.
The Ecuador international left-back has completed a five-year deal taking him from LaLiga outfit Villarreal.
He was an unused sub in their opening league game amid uncertainty as to his future.
Estupinan is expected to help Albion cover the void left by Marc Cucurella’s move to Chelsea.
The undisclosed fee is likely to be similar to the £15 million which brought Cucurella from Getafe last year.
Albion were understood to be keen on Estupinan when he joined Villarreal from Watford two years ago.
The now 24-year-old defender has since helped the Yellow Submarine win the Europa League and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Former Valencia and Albion star Vicente told The Argus: “A good player! He is physically strong and I think he could contribute well in the Premier League because of that.
“I’ve seen him a lot with Osasuna and Villarreal. He’s an interesting player, a good replacement (for Cucurella) and not bad technically.”
Estupinan joins Ecuador team mates Moises Caicedo and Jeremy Sarmiento in the Albion squad.
