Graham Potter says Marc Cucurella is happy with Albion amid the transfer talk.
The left-sided defender had 70 minutes of action as the Seagulls won 2-1 at Reading in Saturday’s friendly.
Albion’s top men laughed off a £30 million bid for Cucurella’s services from Manchester City.
Fans made it very clear they will be happy if he is still smiling in their club’s colours come September 1.
They sang the player’s name at Saturday’s game and added: “Marc Cucurella, we want you to stay.”
Head coach Graham Potter told The Argus: “Yes, he’s happy. It’s not easy because there’s speculation and these things.
“He is a human being and that is the challenge with footballers.
“When the window is open, you get linked with this and that.
“It is what it is. We have a lot of respect for Marc and we like him a lot and we are just helping him enjoy his football.”
It is believed City would have to pay in excess of £50 million to land Cucurella, who impressed again at Reading on the left of a back three.
