Graham Potter wants Albion to kick on this week after their opening friendly.

The senior squad are in Portugal and have now been joined by a host of players who were on international duty earlier this summer.

Potter said the 0-0 draw with Royale Union St-Gilloise was more than just a fitness exercise.

But it also served to get rid of few “cobwebs” after the close season.

Albion’s head coach told The Argus: “You can learn a lot about the players individually and then you can see how things work from a tactical perspective and the relationships between different players.

“But fundamentally it is the first game for a while and just get the cobwebs off, get into the rhythm, and we will build on that in Portugal.

“It's an important week for us and we are looking forward to it."

Albion used 23 players on Saturday but there are a few more who will get involved this week.

Potter said: “Yes, Moises [Caicedo], Alexis [Mac Allister], Shane [Duffy], Leo [Trossard], Enock [Mwepu], Rob [Sanchez], but Kaoru Mitoma couldn't play so we have got some more options in the week.”
