Goldson joined the Scottish giants in 2018 after making 42 appearances for Albion during a three-year stint with the club.

He has gone on to become an important member of the Rangers side, making 222 appearances for the club.

In the final in Sevilla, Rangers were pitted against Eintracht Frankfurt last night, who had knocked out Barcelona and West Ham United in the previous rounds.

The teams could not be separated in the first 45 minutes leading to a tense second half.

Joe Aribo who was playing as a makeshift striker then broke the deadlock in the 57th minute sending Rangers fans into raptures.

The Nigerian pounced on an error from Frankfurt defender Tuta and was able to slot past goalkeeper Kevin Trapp to open the scoring.

The goal gave hope to the travelling Rangers fans but that hope was quickly dented as Frankfurt equalised 12 minutes later as striker Rafael Borre got between Goldson and Calvin Bassey to poke the ball past goalkeeper Allan McGregor to tie up the scores.

That is how the game would end at 1-1, as neither team could find a winner meaning they would go to extra time.

Rangers had thought they had won the game in the 117th minute, but Ryan Kent's point-blank effort was saved by Trapp, which meant the final would be decided on penalties.

And that would be where Rangers and Goldson's luck would run out as Aaron Ramsey's penalty miss would prove costly and Frankfurt would go on to win the Europa League trophy.
