How Albion players rated in the 2-2 draw versus Southampton.
ROBERT SANCHEZ 7/10
Was outwitted by Ward-Prowse and the bounce for the first goal from a free-kick and stood no chance with the second. Flew high to hold a shot later on and was generally assured.
JOEL VELTMAN 8/10
A strong contender as an alternative man of the match to goalscorer Welbeck. Started at right-back and then went into a three. Some very timely tackles during the times when Albion were most stretched.
ADAM WEBSTER 6/10
Returned for an hour as part of a back four as his minutes are managed and will play better than this. His pass was picked off ahead of Southampton’s equaliser – although a few things still had to happen before the ball hit the net.
LEWIS DUNK 6/10
Helped Albion weather the storm after the break but was not at his best with the ball.
MARC CUCURELLA 6/10
Busy as ever as left-back and then wing-back. A big part of the opening goal but should have dealt better with the attack which led to Southampton’s first from a free-kick.
ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER 7/10
Man of many parts does a decent job in the midfield engine room when required. Won possession at times and saw an on-target shot blocked. Seemed to be looking for help on the edge of the box when Southampton levelled.
MOISES CAICEDO 7/10
Competed well on home debut after three big awaydays. Not exactly a dominant midfield force on this occasion but gets around the park and is combative with a decent touch.
ENOCK MWEPU 6/10
Strode forward purposefully at times. Got into the box for the opener and was part of the move for the own goal before losing influence in the second half.
LEANDRO TROSSARD 7/10
Saw a lot of the ball in different areas and, while there were several times he was snuffed out, he did enough to have been a matchwinner. Involved in the own goal, disallowed goal and a big Welbeck chance.
DANNY WELBECK 8/10
A dream start with his close-range finish and was a huge part of the own goal which followed. As ever, stretched the opposition defence. Looks very fit and can target a big finish to the season.
NEAL MAUPAY 6/10
Restored to the XI and was as enthusiastic as ever, notably when nicking the ball back ahead of a Welbeck chance. But lacked precision in his work at times.
SUBS - PASCAL GROSS 7/10
Made a difference once he was moved to midfield from an initial wing-back berth. Unfortunate to see a cleanly-hit finish ruled out for a tight offside call.
SOLLY MARCH 6/10
Was a part of an improved showing in the final stages after the double switch.
JEREMY SARMIENTO N/A
Sent on towards the end with little opportunity to shine.
