The losing run is over - but not in the manner hoped for.

We asked three long-time Albion fans for their thoughts on the 0-0 draw with Norwich and whether it lifted spirits at all.

What were your thoughts on Albion’s performance versus Norwich?

Tim Ayling: I think most people agree that the performance was decent, but we can’t score a goal. Dominated, but could easily have lost with that chance at the end. It’s frustrating to see such a good season end like this.

Alan Brownings: The performance and season as a whole have a very deja vu feel, every time the New Year comes around we can’t win a game.

James Heasman: Generally, I felt Brighton played quite well, until the penalty area, where the lack of quality was glaring. The penalty was unfortunate, but you have to question why Maupay was taking it given his previous misses. The substitutions were also a little baffling, though of course one was enforced.

Who was your pick of the Albion players?

Tim Ayling: Probably Mac Allister (why doesn’t he take penalties?) and Gross were my pick. The opposition were really poor though. I actually thought Maupay played well, apart from the obvious.

Alan Brownings: Alexis Mac Allister, worked hard in midfield and takes the plaudits for at least having the knack of finding himself space to create a shooting position.

James Heasman: Veltman, Dunk and Gross all played well, but I felt Alexis Mac Allister was outstanding. I really feel he will be an important player going forward, and hope we tie him down to a long contract.

Did the performance give you any cheer or encouragement after those six defeats?

Tim Ayling: It’s another point and we’ve probably got enough points now so I’ll try to be positive. It’s hard having not scored against the worst team in the league home and away.

Alan Brownings: Let’s hope 34 points is enough this year because, if it’s 36 or 38, it’s difficult to see, at the minute at least, where the other points are coming from. We’ve only scored 11 Premier League goals at home all season and only two since Christmas. I’d like to be getting out of my seat a little more often.

James Heasman: I think it did. There was some excellent passing and defensively we looked secure, however Norwich were incredibly poor. I would hope some of our promising youngsters are given an opportunity in coming weeks.
