ALBION fans will be honouring former manager Steve Gritt at a special fans’ dinner to be held at the Amex Stadium.

The dinner, which will be the start of a number of events to commemorate the 25-year anniversary of the club leaving the Goldstone Ground, will also involve past players and icons who featured for the club in the past.

It will be hosted by MyAlbion TV’s Richard Reynolds and will include interviews with the players, as they tell stories about their time at the club.

That weekend, the members of the team that played in the last game at the Goldstone against Doncaster Rovers, and then secured the club’s Football League status with a 1-1 draw at Hereford United the following week, will be invited as guests of the club to the Premier League home fixture against Southampton.

Gritt was the manager who led the club to survival in 1996/97, despite only arriving at the club that December, and he is looking forward to the celebrations.

Speaking to the club website, he said: “It’s hard to think that 25 years have passed but it’s great to know the club is commemorating such an emotive and, ultimately, successful end to the season.

“Those six months and, of course, the final couple of games will live with me forever and I’m humbled to be honoured in this way.

“It will be great to catch up again with former players, members of staff and, of course, the fans who played such a big role in our survival.

“I’m sure it will be a great weekend in which the club will come together to celebrate such an important and pivotal season in Albion’s history.”

A 25-year anniversary quiz will take place on May 6 in Dick’s Bar, the evening before Manchester United play Albion at the Amex.

Tickets for the dinner will be priced at £45 per person for tables of up to ten and include a three-course meal.
