Albion starlet Moisés Caicedo could be the next youngster to become a regular in Graham Potter’s Premier League squad.
Albion's head coach Graham Potter said he is a player who has the “possibility to play now” and the club are “excited for him” and his future at Brighton.
The Ecuadorian international was recalled from his loan move at Belgian-side, Beerschot, on January 12, to help provide depth in Graham Potter's squad as Yves Bissouma was leaving the club for the Africa Cup of Nations.
He made the bench in Albion’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace three days later, before coming on as a substitute in Brighton’s 3-1 defeat against Tottenham in the FA Cup on February 5.
He initially made his debut in a two nil win over Cardiff City last August in the EFL Cup, assisting Andi Zeqiri's opener.
Caicedo also played in the development squad’s two nil defeat to Crystal Palace under 23s on Monday.
Potter said: “We felt it was important to get a little bit of game time in the under 23s, obviously he has some big games coming up for his country. We know the player he is, he is a fantastic young player with a possibility to play now and a possibility to play in the future.”
Caicedo made his debut for Ecuador at just 18 years old in 2020. He has since gone on to play 19 games for his international side.
He could make it 20 appearances for his country, with upcoming fixtures versus Paraguay and Argentina on March 24 and March 30 respectively.
Potter added: “We believe in him a lot, it’s hard to say that when he hasn’t played as much. I understand that there is a challenge there for us, we have been quite strong in that area.
“Up until the last couple of weeks we have had good results, so it has not been straightforward to get him into the team. Obviously, he is just coming from his loan spell as well but we think a lot of Moisés and we’re excited for him and his future.”
