Graham Potter says Albion's confidence remains intact after three defeats.

But he has called for more quality ahead of the trip to Newcastle.

The Seagulls went down 2-0 at home to Aston Villa to follow defeats at Manchester United and at the Amex versus Burnley.

Head coach Potter said: “It’s not necessarily about confidence.

“It’s about quality, it’s about luck. It’s about lots of things.

“I don’t think we were short of effort. Our intention was good.

“Maybe we lacked a bit of quality.

“The boys were keen to respond from the Burnley performance.

“(Saturday) was more like us and then you have to accept the result sometimes.”

Potter said his players would be mentally prepared to battle their way out of their recent mini-slump.

He added: “We have had to battle for everything.

“Three games ago we were no defeats in seven and I was saying at this level you have to fight for everything.

“No one is saying anything else.

“The boys are used to that and I think they are used to bouncing back when things have not gone well.

“That’s what we have to do now.”
