Albion are through to the FA Youth Cup last eight – helped by their Irish connection.
Even Ferguson and Andy Moran were on target in a 2-0 win at Charlton last night.
The Seagulls will travel to Wolves or Tottenham in the quarter-finals.
It is only the second time they have reached the last eight - and they have never made the semis.
They followed up their win over Manchester City in the previous round with a goal in each half at The Valley.
Ferguson swept hone a right-foot finish in only the fourth minute.
He had several further chances in the first half while Marcus Ifill was a constant threat.
But the hugely dangerous Tyreece Campbell hit the post for Charlton.
Moran guided home the second after the break following a slick combination with Zac Sturge.
Chances continued to come at both ends with Daniel Kanu hitting the Albion post late on.
Albion: Reid, Nilsson (Jenks 55), McConville, Jackson, Sturge, Ifill, Hinshelwood, Chouchane, Emmerson (Qureshi 80), Moran, Ferguson (Duffus 72). Subs not used: Cahill, Gee, Kavanagh, Barker-Boaitey.
