Adam Webster has shrugged off England “rumours” and focussed on Albion's progress in league and cup.

But the Albion centre-back admits a call from Gareth Southgate would be a dream come true.

In The Argus today, Webster - who earned age group international honours - says be would not feel out of place were he called into the senior squad.

He can enhance his England chances further by impressing against Harry Kane and company at Tottenham in tonight’s FA Cup fourth-round tie (8pm).

Webster said: “To be honest it’s just rumours. I get told them by my friends.

“I just have to park it and focus on my football.

“As boring as it is to say, as soon as you start getting distracted things will catch up with you.

“It’s every boy’s dream to pull on that shirt for their country.

“It’s a massive dream of mine to play for England.

“I am still trying to improve every day and every game I play.

“One day hopefully I will be doing well enough and that call might come, but I’ve got to keep playing well and keep my head down.”

Albion aim for a first win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after three narrow Prem defeats.

And they are ready to go all the way to extra-time and penalties if required.

Webster, who fired home the winner in a shoot out at Newport last season, said: “That’s the first penalty I’ve taken. It was very nerve-racking to be honest.

“I’m sure the boys will be practising leading up to the game.”
