Yves Bissouma has been urged to grab the international stage with Mali.
The Albion midfielder is absent from Premier League action this weekend as he plays for his country.
He has made a big impact after rejoining the squad.
Albion assistant boss Billy Reid is a huge admirer of Bissouma, who is understood to be attracting interest around the Premier League.
Reid said: “First of all I am delighted after three years he is now playing for his nation.
“To play in the Africa Nations Cup is a big, big thing for all the African players.
“He is a super player, he should be there.
“It’s great to watch on the TV and his country qualifying for the next round.
“He’s a great lad, Yves, I’ve got a lot of time for him.
“Hopefully Mali can go on and do well in the tournament.”
Mali face Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday in the round of 16.
Gabon take on Burkina Faso tomorrow.
Albion under-23s striker Ulrick Eneme Ella is with the Gabon squad but missed their final group game due to a positive Covid test.
