ALBION are said to have the 'edge' if they are interested in signing Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz.
The club was linked with a move for the Chilean striker in December although a move is yet to materialise.
Brereton Diaz has been in brilliant form in the Championship for Blackburn, scoring 20 goals in 25 league games.
According to journalist Peter O'Rouke Albion will have an advantage over their Premier League rivals should they make a move for the striker.
This is due to the relationship between the two clubs as Blackburn have benefitted from taking Albion players on loan.
At the moment Blackburn have centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke and Reda Khadra are currently on loan at the club.
Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton also went on loan to the club in the 2019/20 season.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, O'Rouke said: "Brighton and Blackburn do have a decent relationship as two Brighton players have gone on loan to Blackburn in recent seasons.
"So that will probably give them a head start ahead of everybody else."
If Albion were to try and sign the striker it would cost them a fee of near £30m according to reports.
