Alexis Mac Allister grabbed the Goodison glory and his boss was delighted for him.

The Argentinian midfielder has had to be patient at times in the last two seasons.

But he has taken his chance in this busy week.

Two different but equally well-taken strikes secured the points on Merseyside as Everton were beaten 3-2.

Head coach Graham Potter said: “Delighted for him.

“Three games in a week. It just goes to show that football changes quickly.

“A few weeks ago he was disappointed because he hasn’t had the game time and I understand that.

“But in fairness to him he has worked hard, stuck with the players, stuck with the team and because he has been professional and worked so hard, when he gets the opportunity he can perform which is what he has done this week.

“Obviously two great goals but his overall contribution is fantastic, it is important for us that we can get goals from other areas of the pitch.

“We’re delighted because it is two great goals from Alexis and one from a set play, which is important.”

He said of Mac Allister: “This is the hardest thing from a coach’s perspective, especially in the Premier League, you have to have a squad who are good enough to play football and start but you can only pick 11.

“You have to keep everyone motivated and everyone a part of what we’re trying to do.

“It’s a credit to the players, it’s a credit to Alexis. He’s been frustrated, I understand why but he has not let himself be disappointed and he has carried on working.

HOW BRIGHTON WON 3-2 AT EVERTON

“When you do have the opportunity, you’re in a good place to take it.

“He can contribute to the scoring for us.

“So can Enock, so can Jakub, that is something we’re trying to improve because it’s too easy to blame the strikers if we don’t score.

“Today is positive because we get goals from midfield and a goal from a set play.
