The 21-year-old has scored twice for Albion this season with both goals coming in the club's Carabao Cup win over Swansea City in September.

Connolly has however only made six appearances this season for the club as he has struggled with injuries and is behind Neal Maupay and Danny Welbeck in the pecking order.

According to the Daily Mail, talks are advancing between the two clubs, and that there is hope that a deal could be in place for the weekend.

Connolly made his full debut for Albion against Tottenham Hotspur in 2019. In that match, the striker scored two goals and helped his side earn a 3-0 win over the North London club.

He has also become a regular for the senior Republic of Ireland side having made eight appearances since 2019.
