THE January transfer window is fast approaching and Albion along with other clubs will be looking into strengthening their squads for the final stretch of the season.

Graham Potter's side had a good start to the Premier League season but a run of 11 games without a win have seen the club slide down the table and are currently sitting in thirteenth place in the Premier League table.

With injuries and Covid-19 putting pressure on the squad there are areas that could be strengthened to make sure that the team returns to form and can push back towards the top half of the league.

The January transfer window has always been a difficult one for clubs to bring new players in, with some wary of players flopping and proving to be a waste of money.

One way around to avoid this risk is to look for players whose contracts are expiring and would cost less to buy as clubs will risk losing them for nothing at the end of the season.

I have compiled a list of three realistic players that could strengthen the Albion squad.

The first player is Todd Cantwell from Norwich would fit into Potter's style as he is a very technical player who is good on the ball.

The Englishman impressed in his first spell in the Premier League despite Norwich's relegation.

He scored six goals and provided two assists in 37 league matches which is not a bad return. Cantwell is able to play in multiple positions across the midfield, and this utility could make him a useful asset in the club's squad.

This season the 23-year-old struggled with injury at the start of the season but is now back on the pitch and helped the Canaries improve their attacking play.

Norwich does have an option to extend his deal by a further year but with relegation on the cards, Cantwell may try to speed up an exit from the club.

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is a player that has been linked with a move to the club before and now the club could have the chance to sign him on a cut-price deal.

The 22-year-old is highly rated but has struggled for game time at the Gunners due to Alexander Lacazette, Bukayo Saka and Gabrielle Martinelli being ahead of him in the pecking order.

Nketiah has reportedly rejected a new contract with the Gunners and moving to the Amex could be the fresh start he needs to get his career off the ground.

Niklas Stark from Bundesliga side Hertha BSC is another player that could be perfect for Albion and he could be a replacement for Ben White who left for Arsenal in the summer.

The German has been moved into a central defensive role but is also a capable midfielder and a good passer.

The 26-year-old's skill set could see him replicate the job that White was able to perform on a regular basis for the club.

Albion could wait until the summer to sign these players on a free transfer or could jump the gin in January and offer a small fee to convince their clubs to cash in now.
