A GOAL from Romain Saiss was enough to give Wolves three points against Albion at the Amex.

Graham Potter named a good side despite the number of absentees that have built up through injury, Covid-19 and suspension.

Neal Maupay, Jason Steele and Pascal Gross were notable admissions from the squad to face Wolves.

Albion started the better side and put Wolves under pressure in the first ten minutes.

Enock Mwepu had their first real effort at goal in the fifth minute, but it was comfortably saved by Jose Sa in the Wolves net.

Wolves were forced into an early substitution as Hwang Hee-Chan picked up an injury in a challenge with Tariq Lamptey. He was replaced by Adama Traore in the 15th minute.

Solly March then had a great opportunity to give Albion the lead after he was played through by Mwepu but could not get his effort on target in the 20th minute.

Albion then went close through Lamptey in the 32nd minute. A short corner routine saw the defender with a chance at goal, but he could not hit the target.

Wolves had a penalty shout waved away in the 39th minute as Nelson Semedo threw himself to the ground following pressure from Dan Burn.

Albion then found themselves behind in the 45th minute. Yves Bissouma failed to properly clear a corner and instead played it Ruben Neves.

The midfielder then clipped a brilliant ball to Romain Saiss who fired past Robert Sanchez to give the visitors the lead.

Mwepu then fired over from all of two yards out to bring Albion level just before half-time.

Wolves almost doubled their lead shortly after the break as Traore played in Francisco Trincão. The Portuguese forward was only denied by a good stop from Sanchez.

The visitors continued to dominate and rattled the bar and post through Marcal and Saiss.

Sanchez then made two saves good to stop Wolves from adding to their lead. Traore was creating the chances with his pace and Albion were struggling to deal with him.

In the 59th minute, Potter made his first chance as the ineffective Aaron Connolly was replaced by Alexis Mac Allister.

Albion should have equalised only a minute later as Mwepu spooned the ball up into the air after the first good delivery from a set-piece.

Bissouma then found himself in the book for a bad challenge on Marcal. He will miss the next match against Manchester United on Saturday.

The game then fell into a trend of Albion passing attacks being stopped and Wolves trying to counter.

Potter made his final two changes in the 83rd minute as Adam Lallana and Taylor Richards replaced Mwepu and Bissouma.

Just as 11 minutes were added on to the match Burn picked up a yellow card for a foul on Traore.

Bruno Lage then made his second change as Trincao was replaced by Leander Dendoncker.

Albion had a late push to try and get something from the game but could not muster up any meaningful chances.

The game ended in a Wolves win and now Albion are winless in their last 11 games ahead of their trip to Old Trafford on Saturday.
