ALBION captain Lewis Dunk has avoided having surgery on the knee ligaments he damaged during the match against West Ham.
Dunk missed Albion's last match against Southampton after picking up the injury against the Hammers at the London Stadium.
It was expected that he would be out until at least the new year but no time frame had been given for the 30-year-old's return.
It has now been reported that the defender will be out for the next eight weeks and will likely next be available during the next break in the season at the end of January.
The Athletic has reported that Dunk will not require surgery on his knee.
If that had been the case then Dunk would have been absent from the team for much longer than eight weeks.
Manager Graham Potter will still be without his captain for the next match against Wolves on Wednesday.
Potter will also be without central defenders Adam Webster, injured, and Shane Duffy who is suspended after collecting his fifth yellow card of the season against the Saints.
It is expected the boss will select a defensive partnership of Dan Burn and Joel Veltman against the West Midlands side.
