ALBION’S home match against Tottenham Hotspur has been postponed due to a “significant number” of positive Covid-19 cases among Spurs’ players and staff.

The match, which was due to be played this Sunday at 2pm, was requested to be called off by Tottenham and the Premier League Board has taken the decision following guidance from medical advisers, with the “health” of players and staff the priority.

This comes after Spurs called off their Europa Conference League match against Rennes, due to be played tonight, because of the number of Covid-19 cases at the club.

Eight first team players and five staff had tested positive for Covid-19 in the Spurs camp, according to Sky Sports. The fixture will be rearranged in due course.

An Albion spokesman stated: “The postponed fixture will be rescheduled in due course and the Premier League wishes a quick recovery to those with COVID-19.

“Any supporter who has purchased a ticket is advised that the ticket will be valid for the rescheduled match date.

“This includes supporters who received a ticket through the season ticket sharing system or 1901 ticket transfer or purchased hospitality. 

“Season-ticket holders and 1901 club members who have distributed or sold their seats through these systems are advised that their season tickets have been deactivated for this match and, if you wish to attend the rescheduled fixture, you will be able to purchase match tickets once the new fixture date is confirmed.  

“Please note match ticket and hospitality refund requests will not be accepted until confirmation of the revised match date. When the new date is known, details will be released to supporters along with the process for match ticket holders wishing to claim refunds. Please note refunds are not available to season ticket holders or 1901 members.”
