Albion striker Andi Zeqiri has a huge World Cup incentive over the coming months.
The forward on loan to Augsburg has helped Switzerland reach Qatar.
He went on as sub in the last ten minutes of a 4-0 win over Bulgaria.
That result sent the Swiss through as group rivals Italy were held 0-0 in Northern Ireland.
It was a fifth senior cap for the Lausanne-born player who was a prolific goalscorer with the Swiss under-21s.
He has so far scored two Bundesliga goals for Augsburg.
Jakub Moder played the first half of Poland’s 2-1 home defeat by Hungary before, somewhat contentiously, being withdrawn from the action by boss Paulo Sousa.
Poland now go into the play-offs.
