ALBION lost 4-2 on penalties after fighting back from going behind twice at Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.
The Seagulls were beaten on spot-kicks, at the King Power Stadium.
The Foxes put Albion under early pressure and it paid off inside the first five minutes as Harvey Barnes intercepted a poor pass from goalkeeper Jason Steele.
The winger then took two touches before firing past the Albion keeper to give Brendan Rogers side the perfect start.
The Foxes almost doubled their lead as Patson Daka and Kieran Dewsbury-Hall went close.
Albion did drag themselves level as Duffy knocked down a corner cross to Adam Webster. The defender calmly slotted the chance home in the 45th minute.
The leveller was short-lived, however less than a minute later, Jeremy Sarmiento gave the ball straight to Ademola Lookman in the Albion area. The forward tapped the ball to home to reinstate the Foxes lead.
Albion came out fighting in the second half and equalised after substitute Marc Cucurella’s clipped cross was met by fellow substitute Enock Mwepu, who headed home.
Albion pushed for a winner and looked the most likely to score in the dying moments, but the game went to pens.
