It is probably not really fitting to refer to Adam Lallana as “quietly effective”.
His constant shouting of help and instruction could be heard ringing around empty stadia last season.
One imagines that remains the same as he operates in midfield before full stands.
Now Albion head coach Graham Potter has highlighted the part, often unsung these days, he is playing on and off the pitch.
Lallana has dropped into more of a holding role during the recent absence of Yves Bissouma.
Asked by The Argus about the ex-Liverpool man’s ongoing contribution, Potter said: “He has been great. On the pitch he has contributed to what we have done.
“The points we have got and the things we have achieved.
“He brings his quality, his calmness, his understanding of the game, are at such a high level.
“And then off the pitch, he is just helping the guys.”
Potter believes Lallana has helped Shane Duffy bounce back to form this season.

He added: “People have asked me a lot about Shane but I am pretty sure, if you speak to Shane, and ask him about the influence that Adam has had on him, I would say it has been huge.
“These things that go on behind the scenes, Adam has been part of and he is a really important guy for us.”
