Graham Potter has revealed why he believes Shane Duffy gets “a bad press”.
The Albion boss is pondering what comes next for his Irish centre-back after an impressive outing at Burnley.
Duffy helped in a 2-1 success at Turf Moor in the absence of Joel Veltman but could still go out on loan this month.
Potter allowed him to join Celtic last season, having started him only 12 times in 2019-20.
He is aware of suggestions the former player of the year is not at ease with how the Seagulls like to play under his command.
But, asked whether such an observation was unfair, the Seagulls boss said: “I think it is when you see (his performance on Saturday).
“I thought he did well in the middle of a three in the second half. He played really well.
“I think he gets a little bit of a bad press in that regard.

“But we know his qualities and we know what he brings to the group, to the team.
“It’s about finding the right team balance to help us get points.”
Albion are preparing to face a Watford side who beat Aston Villa 3-2 on the opening day.
Ismaila Sarr, playing wide on the right, was the attacking star as they raced into a 3-0 lead.
A few tickets remained on general sale last night, including in the West Upper and areas of the North Stand, but a sell-out looks likely.
