Albion defender Leo Ostigard is joining Stoke City on loan – after agreeing a new deal with the Seagulls.

The Norwegian defender has signed a new one-year contract with Albion.

He will spend this season with the Potters in the Championship.

Ostigard, 21, shone in the second tier with Coventry City last season.

He also showed up well in pre-season as Albion drew 0-0 at Rangers recently.

Head coach Graham Potter said: “Leo has spent pre-season with the first team here and has demonstrated how much his game has developed during his time with Coventry.

“This move to Stoke will hopefully see him play regularly and continue with his progression.”

Potter recently said he had no plans to sign a new centre-back, despite the departure of Ben White to Arsenal.

But it is unclear whether that changes with Ostigard's temporary exit.

The club have been linked with several defenders this summer.
