Albion fans got a first look at one of the new quartet of Premier League referees.
John Brooks had a busier time than he might have expected as he took charge of the friendly against Getafe.
He showed yellow to two members of each team and had to break up a confrontation between players when Getafe defender Chema stayed down after an incident with Neal Maupay.
Brooks, from Leicestershire, has been in Select Group 2 as a referee since 2018.
Before that he was a Premier League assistant and was on the line for 2016 FA Cup Final.
The other new refs are former A-League official Jarred Gillett, Michael Salisbury and Tony Harrington.
Harrington has refereed at the Amex before.
GRAHAM POTTER EXPECTS DEVELOPMENTS WITH PERCY TAU
He was in charge when Albion beat Blackburn 1-0 late in the 2016-17 promotion season through a Glenn Murray goal.
