Marc Cucurella has told his agent not to bother him with transfer talk while he aims to win Olympic gold.

The Albion target is preparing to play for Spain against Brazil in the final on Saturday.

He could go head to head on his wing with his Barcelona idol Dani Alves.

Cucurella is widely expected to join the Seagulls after he returns from the Games.

But he says he is not thinking about that for now.

Speaking from the team hotel, he told reporter Gerard Romero: “People are talking a lot. Let’s talk seriously.

“I’ve told my agent not to bother me until I get back to Spain.

“Once I’m back in Spain, we will see what happens.

“But, sincerely, I’m here and focused and I’ve parked the transfer window.”

Cucurella has impressed with performances for Getafe.

WHAT PUNISHMENT WILL ALBION FACE AFTER FA CHARGE?

But he is determined not to be distracted from the job in hand at the Olympics.

He said: “It’s a spectacular experience – a unique experience in my life.”

The 23-year-old has been linked with Atletico Madrid in the past.

But that interest from the current champions is understood to be historic.

Getafe, who visit the Amex for a friendly on Saturday, are holding out for about £15 million for Cucurella.

But many observers in Spain believe that would be a shrewd investment by the Seagulls.

Head coach Graham Potter has insisted Albion will spend wisely, despite the £50 million sale of Ben White to Arsenal.

Potter said: “It doesn’t necessarily equate that just because you get X amount in you have to spend X amount out.

“If that happens we don’t grow “We have to be clever with what we spend, we have to be clever with what we sell and keep working as a club, keep working as a team to carry on improving our identity, our environment.

“Hopefully we can make our pound work better than the rest.”
