Percy Tau has revealed the improvements he must make to become a Premier League star.

The Albion forward is relishing the prospect of a first full campaign with the Seagulls after scoring in pre-season at Luton.

He has spoken of how he struggled with the intensity of his new league after arriving from loan stints in Belgium.

But he is convinced lessons learnt last term, plus a full pre-season with Graham Potter’s squad, can only be of benefit.

Tau struggled for playing time after joining the squad in mid-term but insists that half-season of work will now pay dividends.

He told The Argus: “It has helped me a lot. I am getting used to the team, to the coaches, to the league, so everything is getting better.

“I’m starting to feel more and more sharp with everything.

“Hopefully this pre-season will help me.

“It’s about understanding the rest of the guys, understanding the league and the intensity.

“The intensity is a bit higher than in Belgium.

“It’s one of those things where you kind of feel like you are slower or need more time because of the intensity.

“You don’t get as much time.

“You have to try and move a bit more, create some space for yourself.”

Head coach Potter believes the South Africa international made the right decision to miss the Olympics and concentrate on pre-season with his club.

Tau said: “I think it was a combination of everybody involved.

“I came to a point where myself and the club and association in South Africa, everybody thought it was beneficial for me to stay and try and work my way into the team.

“I needed more time with the team.

“Remember I came in January. We were fighting relegation.

“It was difficult when I came in.

“Now it is pre-season. Everyone is excited, everyone is looking forward.

“It’s beneficial - but I am sad South Africa are out of the Olympics.”
