Sussex have made changes to their captaincy roles in both the LV=County Championship and Royal London Cup.
Wicketkeeper Ben Brown had been the captain of both their County Championship and Royal London Cup squad for the last four years.
However, Given the significant changes to the makeup of the 50-over and Championship sides over the past two seasons, the club’s Performance Cricket Committee has decided that the time is right for new leadership in these formats.
Batsman Tom Haines has been the role of skipper for Sussex in the Royal London Cup for the rest of this season, while a captain for their remaining County Championship fixtures will be announced in due course.
Sussex believe a new captain/captains will be able to develop alongside the young, homegrown players that will form the core of Sussex’s 50-over and Championship sides in the years ahead.
Permanent appointments for the roles will be made following the conclusion of the 2021 season.
