Brighton prospect Jensen Weir has joined newly-promoted League One side Cambridge United on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old joined Albion from Wigan Athletic last summer and was a regular for the Under-23's in midfield alongside skipper Teddy Jenks last season.
He made appearances in the BPL 2 last season and scored four goals, which include a brace in their 5-2 defeat to Manchester United in November.
That saw him earn a first call-up to England U19's last season as part of their squad for their double header against Scotland at St George's Park in October.
But Jensen, who is the son of academy pathway manager David Weir, will now head out on his first loan away from the club to newly-promoted League One side Cambridge.
The U's were automatically promoted from League Two last season after finishing second.
U23's head coach Andrew Crofts said: “Jensen made a really good impression last season and this is the next step for him in terms of his development.
“He is going to a club just promoted to League One so he will get the opportunity to play at a high level and develop his own game in a good environment.
“As with all our loan players, we will be monitoring his progress and wish him all the best for the season.”
