Prime Minister Boris Johnson is said to be poised to announce an extra bank holiday if the team win at Wembley on Sunday.
He said that to call it now would be “tempting fate” but “let’s see what happens”, his official spokesman added that if England win then the government will set out its plans “in due course”.
Reportedly Downing Street sources have said that the eight o’clock kick off time on Sunday means it would be too late to take the Monday off but that other options are being considered.
